    Job Description & Qualifications

    Job Summary

    As a senior member of the Legal Team, provide critical legal advice by partnering with all levels within the Company on strategic matters and initiatives.  


    Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

    • Negotiate, review and prepare large commercial contracts that impact the business.
    • Provide counseling and legal advice on day-to-day operational issues.
    • Partner with executive management, branch operations, outside and legal advisors, as necessary, to address a wide variety of legal issues.
    • Advise and handle employment and union/labor matters (EEOC, lawsuits, governmental investigations, etc.).
    • Provide guidance to and partner with IT, Finance, Tax and other functional areas.
    • Counsel with respect to technology agreements relating to the Company’s data (including data privacy and related issues).
    • Review and advise on real property matters to maximize organizational interests and manage disputes.
    • Conduct legal research, due diligence and internal investigations.
    • Assist with strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions.
    • Coordinate and manage claims (credit, insurance, workers’ compensation) and litigation (including direct supervision of outside counsel).
    • Address intellectual property, marketing and branding related inquiries for business initiatives and as a part of due diligence.
    • Assist with training and implementation of processes and procedures in order to address and minimize enterprise risk.
    • Assist with compliance program.

    • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
    • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
    • Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.

    Work Environment

    • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
    • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must be eighteen years of age
    • Must pass the Drug Test
    • Must pass the Background Check
    • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

    Education and Experience

    • J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
    • 10+ years of experience in general corporate and commercial law.

    Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Having both in-house and law firm experience is a plus.
    • Labor and employment experience is also a plus.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented environment managing and mentoring legal staff.
