    Job Description & Qualifications

    Job Summary

    Responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components for small- to mid-sized projects.

     

    Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

    • Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, debugging and support for systems software/hardware, including implementation support for multiple infrastructure platforms on mid-sized and smaller projects.
    • Tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. Performs root cause analyses for service interruption recoveries. Creates preventative measures and presents to management.
    • Identifies and tests processes for automation. Performs configuration prior to the quality assurance process.
    • Develops expert knowledge of industry best practices and uses that knowledge to provide technical support to project team members.
    • Provides 24/7 on-call support for assigned systems, including investigating and troubleshooting problems.
    • Discusses issues with users and translates issues to determine appropriate technical solutions.

    Nature and Scope

    • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
    • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
    • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel. 

    Work Environment

    • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
    • Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

     

    Minimum Qualifications 

    • Must be eighteen years of age
    • Must pass the Drug Test
    • Must pass the Background Check
    • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

     

    Education and Experience

    Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related

    field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience

    in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

    Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical support role with increasing levels of responsibility.
    • Demonstrated experience with standard software applications (Windows 10, MS Office 16, MS O365); PC and printer troubleshooting, understanding of networking, and mobile device support.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; customer service skills are a must.
    • Associates degree in technical discipline and/or technical certification - A+, MCSE preferred.
    • 3-5 years of systems engineering experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and organizational skills.
    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
    • Experience operating with minimal supervision.
