Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for analyzing credit data to estimate degree of risk involved in extending credit to firms or individuals.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Reviews processed credit applications within assigned territories for possible approval, assigns credit limits and conditions of sale.
  • Evaluates customer records and recommends that credit limits be extended or reduced, based on collection attempts, payment history, and purchase activity of customer.
  • Maintains collections of Accounts Receivable of assigned territories. Calls and follows up on customer accounts that are past due.

  • Acts as point of contact for assigned national account customers, sales reps and national account sales team
  • Routinely generates reports from multiple data sources, updates dashboards and the development of future enhancements
  • Acts as liaison with Finance project manager to prioritize and communicate ongoing projects within the credit department.
  • Helps identify and administer process improvements within the credit support team.

Nature and Scope 

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.

  • Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or other related field desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • The candidate should be able to import/export data, use various lookup & logic formulas and be comfortable with pivot tables, data models & dashboards.
  • Must be effective communicator (verbal and written) with exceptional phone skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in construction credit desired but not required.
