Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for working with the Corporate Controller in completion of income tax accounting and tax return preparation functions of the company. Oversee both Federal and State income tax matters for all businesses and oversee indirect tax compliance processes assigned to tax accountants.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees and ensures completion of FAS 109 calculations on a quarterly basis.
  • Oversees Federal and State income tax return preparation, including coordinating with third party service providers as utilized.
  • Prepares and reviews extensions and estimated payment calculations.
  • Performs technical research on compliance items.
  • Participates in certain M&A integration functions, and due diligence, and other strategic opportunity assessments.
  • Manages and oversees special projects as assigned, including tax planning and developing new processes.
  • Oversee the calculation of tax distributions to partnership entities on a quarterly basis.
  • Proactively identify potentially complex income or indirect tax matters and communicate to senior finance resources in a timely fashion.

  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
  • Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.


Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Minimum Qualifications 


  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable


Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Masters degree and/or CPA required.
  • Public company experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
