Job Summary

Responsible for defining the business future direction by assisting in the development and execution of strategic initiatives, long-term growth strategy, and business development.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Works with key stakeholders to define, launch and drive strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Assists with creation and execution of yearly strategic business plans.
  • Leads cross-functional teams in development and implementation of initiatives to drive business growth and profitability consistent with overall business unit.
  • Structures and executes multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously by developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses and developing final recommendations.
  • Implements recommendations, tracks results and evaluates project success.
  • Supports high priority projects areas of Strategic Business Development as needed, including enterprise strategy, acquisitions and integrations, divestitures, and investor relations activities.
  • Translates complex data in to executive and board-level presentations that articulate potential options and recommendations.

 Nature and Scope 

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles and practical experience.
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment 

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age

  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience

  •  Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 7+ years experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Day-to-Day Duties will include the following:

  • Participate on teams developing M&A strategy
  • Identify, research, analyze and value potential acquisitions, joint ventures, investments and other strategic growth opportunities
  • Support M&A strategy objectives – including the development and tracking of acquisitions opportunities, and all phases of transaction execution
  • Perform and manage due diligence
  • Assist in the development and communication of the strategic business case to obtain corporate leadership support for M&A initiatives
  • Support or lead the transaction negotiation and closing process
  • Facilitate the integration planning process
  • Assist in and lead the execution of corporate divestitures
  • Support senior management in the strategic planning process
  • Evaluate new business opportunities
  • Assist business units in developing M&A strategy
  • Analyze industry dynamics and the competitive landscape

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • MBA or Undergraduate degree with substantial coursework in Finance and Accounting
  • Minimum of 2-3 years pre-MBA work experience
  • Work experience in professional services (e.g. mergers and acquisitions, consulting, accounting), or business operations, management or corporate development and strategy is highly valued.
  • Domestic and international travel as required
  • Background in Industrial Distribution is a plus
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude, and capacity for learning quickly in an unstructured, intensive and fast-paced environment
  • Strong general business acumen
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Demonstrated record of professional and academic achievement
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills with the ability to lead projects in a multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, including a solid understanding of accounting principles and fundamentals of financial statement analysis
  • Strong written communication skills and fluency with Microsoft Powerpoint
  • High level of maturity and professional demeanor, with strong verbal communication skills. Must be able to speak with confidence and composure in high pressure settings, and in interactions with senior executives
